Three-packet evening garden kit

Midnight Moth Garden™

Three separately planted flowers create a fragrant, layered evening garden that becomes more interesting as daylight fades.

Midnight Moth Garden™ is a three-packet evening garden designed for the hours after the bright flowers clock out. Plant the three packets together as one layered garden—but do not mix the seed packets together.

CoverageApproximately 125 sq ft total—roughly a 10 × 12 ft bed, a 5 × 25 ft border, or several smaller coordinated planting pockets.
SunlightFull sun to partial sun; good light supports the strongest flowering and fragrance.
When to PlantPlant after hard-frost danger in colder climates. In mild climates, use the locally appropriate cool- or warm-season planting window for each species.

What to Expect

Let the planting develop.

Flowering Tobacco and Sweet Mignonette are annuals and can bloom the first season. Common Evening Primrose is typically biennial and may spend its first season forming a leafy rosette before flowering in a later season. The planting changes character through the day: mignonette stays low and fragrant, tobacco supplies colorful trumpet-shaped flowers and a stronger dusk scent, and primrose rises behind them with pale yellow evening-opening blooms. The result is intentionally intimate—a small garden for porches, patios, borders, and places where you can actually be outside to smell it.

How to Plant

Prepare, sow, and press.

Plant primrose toward the back, flowering tobacco through the middle, and mignonette along the front or near seating. Use the illustrated Midnight Moth Garden guide for packet-by-packet sowing.

Flowering Tobacco is ornamental and toxic if ingested. Keep seeds and plants away from children and pets. Follow the separate planting directions on each packet.
